About
Laurence Woollard has been active in patient advocacy since 2014, driving meaningful change through purpose-led collaboration and strategic engagement. In 2017, he founded On The Pulse, an independent consultancy focused on rare diseases. Over the years, he has informed and led multi-stakeholder initiatives with industry and cross-sector partners at national and global levels, spanning the medicines lifecycle from research and development to access and real-world use.
Through On The Pulse, Laurence is regarded as a progressive and influential voice in rare diseases, grounded in his lived experience of severe haemophilia and deep expertise in patient-industry partnerships within the inherited bleeding disorders community. His thought leadership, showcased through international speaking engagements, peer-reviewed publications and media contributions, focuses on empowering patient choice and improving standards of care through evidence-based advocacy.
Beyond his consultancy work, Laurence serves on multiple advisory boards and committees, contributing to policy and public health initiatives. He also works part-time at the University of East Anglia as Patient Research Team Leader on the IMAB-Qi programme, which aims to improve how people are supported to take their medicines as prescribed.
Laurence holds an MSc with distinction in Health Policy from Imperial College London.
