ISTH 2026: Sharing new insights in bleeding disorders

Laurence Woollard, Director of On The Pulse Consultancy, will be attending the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) 2026 Congress in Paris from 11–15 July.

During the congress, Laurence will co-present findings from the Bridging the Gap initiative and is also a co-author on a second scientific poster exploring multidisciplinary practice around physical activity in haemophilia.

Bridging the Gap: Understanding treatment information needs

The first poster, ‘Understanding treatment information needs in inherited bleeding disorders across the Midlands, UK: Findings from the Bridging the Gap initiative’, presents findings from a Midlands-wide NHS service evaluation exploring how people living with inherited bleeding disorders access, understand and use treatment information within an evolving therapeutic landscape.

Coordinated by Laurence in collaboration with Dr Richard Gorman and clinical representatives from across the Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centres, the initiative has informed six recommendations to support more consistent, accessible and person-centred approaches to treatment information across the region.

The poster will be presented at 13:45 CEST on Monday 13 July. Learn more about Bridging the Gap here or access the full report via the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust website.

Sponsor disclosure: Roche Products Ltd. and Chugai Pharma UK Ltd., and Takeda UK Limited, provided financial support for the Pan-Midlands Service Evaluation initiative and had no involvement in the project.

Supporting physical activity in haemophilia

Laurence is also a co-author on a second scientific poster, ‘Understanding How UK Healthcare Professionals Advise and Support Physical Activity in People Living with Haemophilia: Findings From a National Survey’, developed in collaboration with Pfizer and multidisciplinary experts across the UK.

Laurence served in an advisory capacity, contributing to the study protocol, survey instrument development and interpretation of the findings. The study provides a rich snapshot of current UK practice, highlighting variation in multidisciplinary approaches, perceived barriers and opportunities to strengthen guidance for safe participation.

With thanks to Lionra Medical for their engagement and support throughout the project.
