Partnering with Prime Global to Recognise World Haemophilia Day 2022

To mark World Haemophilia Day on April 17, we have partnered with the medical communications and market access company, Prime Global and sister agency, HCD Economics, on a feature article about taking meaningful action and creating real change to patients’ lives.

In the Prime Global article, titled “Haemophilia awareness: building trusted relationships between patients and industry,” On The Pulse director, Laurence Woollard, shares his lived-experience and insights into the crucial role of patient education to reduce health inequalities. Also, he describes the significance of the contaminated blood scandal and its relation to shared decision-making within clinical practice today.

Several important research studies are referenced throughout the article. This includes parts I and II of “The Cost of Haemophilia across Europe – a Socioeconomic Survey” (CHESS), co-developed by HCD Economics, that draw attention to quality of life issues, burden of illness and socio-economic societal burden of haemophilia, amongst other factors. Moreover, the Patient-Reported Outcomes, Burdens, and Experiences (PROBE) project, led by Mark Skinner and supported by numerous industry partners, has been instrumental in providing a direct understanding of what living with haemophilia means to an individual patient.

World Haemophilia Day 2022

Every year, within the framework of World Haemophilia Day, a different theme is promoted and celebrated. This year’s campaign is, “Access for All: Partnership. Policy. Progress. Engaging your government, integrating inherited bleeding disorders into national policy.”

According to the event organiser, the World Federation of Hemophilia, by raising awareness and bringing haemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders to the attention of policymakers, the community can ‘increase sustainable and equitable access to care and treatment’.
